Episode 042 – Photon Shockwave

Overall:

• Has a lot of rarity upgrading this set. Even Some minor good cards got a rarity boost to at least Super.
• No general support really at all. Unless you’ve got the archetypes that get support in this pack or plan on using a new deck, there’s really nothing in this pack.
• Brings a new top tier deck “Rabbit Laggia”.
• In general I’d say this pack is a very poor pack, and I don’t recommend getting much of it. (Kyle)

New Archetypes:
Photon:

• Based mostly around getting multiple 2000 beaters on board
• Boss Monster: Galaxy Eyes Photon Dragon
• Majority of the support is poor/useless
• Photon Sabre Tiger is pretty cool.

Evol(Evoltile/Evolsaur/Evolzar):

• They “evolve” up from Reptile>Dinosaur>Dragon
• The Evolzars are extremely powerful and worth building decks around
• The archetype itself seems strong
• Westlo and Cerato appear to make very powerful combos together
• TCG Exclusive: Evolsaur Pelta also very good.

Old Archetype Large Support:
Wind-Up:

• Receives some very powerful support this set
• Multiple usable monsters:
• Kitten
• Bat
• Knight
• Rabbit
• Zenmaines
• Rabbit gives the much needed boost the deck needed
• Look forward to even better support in the next pack

Orca-Fodder:

• A small number of fish are added to the arsenal
• In particular Friller Rabca appears very strong
• Shark Stickers is a very solid card for Rank 3 XYZ

Old Archetype Small Support:

• Naturia Maron
• Appears to very greatly help Pineapple
• D.D. Telepon
• This thing gives some very crazy options to Psychic decks
• Prior of the Ice Barrier
• An interesting addition, but I’m not sure what to do with it
• Watts:
• Watt King Cobra
• Watt Cancel
• Both seem very good for watts, but I’m not sure if this will make us see any Watt decks any time soon

• Gishki Beast
• A one card Rank 4 XYZ Summon
• Number 20: Giga Brilliant
• Really big Gantetsu
• Tri-Wight Zone
• Special Summoning 3 monsters, no matter what they are, is amazing
• Momentary Truce
• Can anybody say Final Countdown?
