Justen, here’s what gives Saber Rabbit an edge: Heroic Champion Gandiva. That, in combination with Saber Hole totally poops on anything yor opponent tries to summon, plus you have Saber Slash and Hyunlei if they start investing in the field. Oh, and Naturia Synchros are pretty cool, huh?
I actually have a deck on DN that has the sole purpose of bringing out Evilswarm Nightmare and Gandiva to prevent anything from happening. Works pretty well.
BEST MUSIC EVA!!!!!
When I first started listening my mind was blown! Great job Ma’at. Really loved the podcast, great thing to listen to while playing Minecraft. 😀
Y U be hating on (S)craps? xD
Yes, I know they’re quote, unquote; “bad,” but they have some cool nuances.
I like the fact that the Scrap Synchro’s get their revival effects even when they’re Solemn’d.
Combine that with Golem and you essentially make your opponent waste a ton of resources, just get a Golem in the grave (which is a simple task.)
I also like how Golem can summon monsters to your opponent’s side of the field.
Give them a Mind-Reader for a nuke, or an attack position Goblin to do some big damage.
I know they (Scraps) cannot be meta, or even viable (although some interesting things have been attempted; most notably with Grandsoil and Dandylion, in addition to Beast support like you guys mentioned.) but they’re an interesting archetype with more inner workings than people actually know of.
If only Othros wasn’t horrible, they would have a Shark-esque monster to work with…
Loved the Podcast as always, by the way.
I agree with your opinion that Scraps are not viable due to the bad support available to them, but I have seen successful decks with them in past formats. Back when Sams first got the Synchro Shi-En, I heard of an anti-meta deck which used both Scraps and Worms. The Worms were mostly used as Synchro fodder, and Yagan’s effect was useful for bouncing problem cards such as Shi-En. The deck looked fun back in the day, but it is way past its prime now. What are your guy’s favorite decks which use two archetypes or card engines (such as T.G. Agents or Scrap Worms)?
Thanks for listening to the cast guys, really appreciated it!
As for my distaste with Scraps, it really comes down to their limited window of play-ability. It was as if, just when they were becoming interesting, gaining some cool support, the tier card-pool took a drastic shift that made Scraps completely irrelevant. It was just frustrating and dumb.
Players: “Oh…so, we’re just…done…with these?”
Konami: “Yes. You will now be moving on.”
Players: “Oh…ok. :(”
@Hobobob: Our favorite decks w/ two archtypes? That’s a good question. We shall discuss that on the podcast!
