U.A. and Speedroids Idea:

I had a deck idea, maybe it will work.

No deck profile for it yet, but the concept is pretty simple and I’ll explain some of the ideas and reasoning behind it in the article. The idea is this: U.A. Speedroids. Speedroids give you very easy access to Rank 3 XYZ, which provided the fabled Extra Deck monster MX-Saber Invoker that was long lost to U.A. since Tour Guide went to 1, but now, with Speedroids, we have a potentially more threatening Rank 3 XYZ engine, in the form of Speedroids, that also has significantly more synergy with U.A.s than what Tour Guide had.

There’s 3 Speedroid cards in particular that I’ll go over really quickly that I think make this work so well: Speedroid Terrortop, Speedroid Taketomborg, and Speed Recovery.

Speedroid Terrortop

Level 3 / WIND / Machine

1200 ATK / 600 DEF

If you control no monsters, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand). When this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can add 1 “Speedroid” monster from your Deck to your hand, except “Speedroid Terrortop”. You can only use this effect of “Speedroid Terrortop” once per turn.

Speedroid Taketomborg

Level 3 / WIND / Machine

600 ATK / 1200 DEF

If you control a WIND monster, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand). You can Tribute this card; Special Summon 1 “Speedroid” Tuner monster from your Deck, also you cannot Special Summon monsters for the rest of this turn, except WIND monsters. You can only Special Summon “Speedroid Taketomborg(s)” once per turn.

Speed Recovery

Normal Spell

Target 1 “Speedroid” monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon it. During your Main Phase, except the turn this card was sent to the Graveyard: You can banish this card from your Graveyard, then target 1 “Speedroid” monster in your Graveyard; add it to your hand.

The engine works in a pretty simple manner. Terrortop is easy to special summon, and when summoned it can search a copy of Taketomborg from the deck. You can special summon Taketomborg from your hand if you control a WIND monster, and since Terrortop is WIND you can special summon it after searching it. You can then make a Rank 3 XYZ monster of choice without normal summoning and at a net card advantage that is equal to the investment. Speed Recovery can be used to revive Terrortop from the graveyard to make a Rank 3 XYZ or similarly, banish Speed Recovery from the graveyard to Terrortop or Taketomborg from the graveyard to make Rank 3 XYZ.

How this is especially good with U.A.s is two things. First, Terrortop is a really easy special summon so it makes really easy tribute fodder when you have a bad hand. This essentially replaces the role of Heroic Challenger – Assault Halberd. Second, Rank 3 XYZ means access to MX-Saber Invoker as well as Rank 3 XYZ toolboxing. MX-Saber Invoker can special summon U.A. Midfielder from the deck, giving you more easy access to Midfielder, greatly bolstering the deck’s consistency, and if Invoker survives an extra turn you can do it again, which in most instances is an OTK. The access to Rank 3 XYZ is also very helpful because it allows the deck to potentially bait an opponent’s back row, which they previously where very weak at doing. In particular this can be done with Ghostrick Alucard and Totem Bird (which can be summoned because all of the Speedroids are WIND attribute).

In particular, the Invoker play is very good and better than before when people ran Tour Guide in U.A. because Terrortop does not require you to normal summon. If you control no monsters you can special summon Terrortop, add Taketomborg, special summon it and then make Invoker. From there, special summon Midfielder from the deck with Invoker’s effect. You can bounce that Midfielder for a U.A. in hand and then normal summon  the Midfielder again. If you have U.A. Stadium this is extremely powerful because now you get to search, then can special summon the searched U.A. over the other U.A. you had which will activate U.A. Stadium to boost Midfielder, Invoker and the searched U.A. by 500 as well. Let’s say you searched Dreadnought Dunker and had a Perfect Ace in hand. You could attack with Midfielder, then Invoker, then Dunker and then use Midfielder to swap Dunker for Perfect Ace and attack with Perfect Ace, resulting in 8300 damage into an open field and you only had to open U.A. Stadium, Speedroid Terrortop and U.A. Perfect Ace (or any other U.A. monster, but any is better than Ace because Ace has the lowest attack).

I’ll be testing decks out a lot for this idea and I’ll be taking it to my locals most likely this week, so hopefully I’ll have a deck profile up in the near future if the deck functions well, but that’s all for now.
