We received 3 new Kaiju support cards in Dimension of Chaos. Here’s some of my ideas.
This week will be more of a “splurge” than normal.
First off, here’s the effects of the 3 new cards:
Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju
WATER / Aqua-type / Level 8
2200 ATK / 3000 DEF
You can Special Summon this card (from your hand) to your opponent’s side of the field in Attack Position, by Tributing 1 monster they control. If your opponent controls a “Kaiju” monster, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand) in Attack Position. You can only control 1 “Kaiju” monster. During either player’s turn, when your opponent activates a card or effect, except “Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju”: You can remove 2 Kaiju Counters from anywhere on the field; negate the activation, and if you do, banish that card.
Radian, the Multidimensional Kaiju
DARK / Fiend-type / Level 7
2800 ATK / 2500 DEF
You can Special Summon this card (from your hand) to your opponent’s side of the field in Attack Position, by Tributing 1 monster they control. If your opponent controls a “Kaiju” monster, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand) in Attack Position. You can only control 1 “Kaiju” monster. Once per turn: You can remove 2 Kaiju Counters from anywhere on the field; Special Summon 1 “Radian Token” (Fiend-Type/DARK/Level 7/ATK 2800/DEF 0), but it cannot be used as a Synchro Material.
Kaiju Capture Mission
Continuous Trap Card
Once per turn, if there are less than 3 Kaiju Counters on this card: You can target 1 “Kaiju” monster on the field; change it to face-down Defense Position, then place 1 Kaiju Counter on this card (max. 3). If this card in your possession is destroyed by an opponent’s card and sent to your Graveyard: You can draw 2 cards. You can only use this effect of “Kaiju Capture Mission” once per turn
Gameciel Ideas:
First off there is Gameciel, a card that’s very good and it’s pretty obvious that it is. Negate and banish anything as many times per turn as you can get Kaiju counters on things. (Well designed in that it self limits itself because of the banishing, so by negating you don’t put counters back on Kyoutou Waterfront) The card is so good, I’ve been trying to think of every reasonable way to get this out on turn 1 that I can, and there really isn’t all that much.
Easily the best way I thought of to get out Gameciel really quickly is to put it in the graveyard and then revive it with either Call of the Haunted, Oasis of Dragon Souls or Soul Charge. The best way to get it there was either Genex Undine or Trade-In.
It’s also possible to utilize a very bizarre Aqua Actress/Aquarium engine to continuously revive Gameciel. All 3 of the Aquarium cards introduced for the Aqua Actress archetype that came out in Dragons of Legend 2 have the effect “If this card is sent from the field to the graveyard: target 1 Aqua-type monster in your graveyard; special summon it.” Using this you can get some weird combos to revive Gameciel from the graveyard. Additional, using the card Aquarium Stage has the effect “WATER monsters you control cannot be destroyed by battle with a non-WATER monster.” which could potentially make Gamecial eve more of a pain to deal with. Unfortunately, the best strategies for getting the Aquariums to the graveyard are shallow (no pun intended): Double Cyclone, Galaxy Cyclone (from your graveyard), Magical Hats, Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder, and Black Rose Dragon. I wanted to be a super cool dude and summon Hamon, but that’s way too extreme, I’ll test it though.
The last reasonable way I thought to get out Gameciel really fast is the card Big Wave Small Wave. You have to run some other WATER monsters in the deck, maybe the Aqua Actress stuff, but once again, the idea is really weak, but at the very least I will test it out.
Radian Ideas:
Of the new cards, I’d probably say that Radian is my favorite. He really contributes to the Synchro build of the deck I was playing around with. While yes, you cannot use the Tokens he summons to Synchro, while you are Synchro summoning using Radians, you’re gaining 2800 ATK tokens along side you Level 8 Synchros and Felgrands, making you OTK way more easily. Also, because you summon Tokens, this makes Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack way more of a threat because the opponent has to deal with a huge token before they can take down the Dracossack.
The Token powers are so cool I am tempted to run copies of Mecha Phantom Beast Tetherwolf because it’s a generically good monster, but it also can become Level 7 for Rank 7 XYZ summons or for Synchros. It’s also tempting to further the fusion by adding a lot more Mecha Phantom Beasts. Mecha Phantom Beasts have access to a lot of Synchro power and cards that punish open fields and also go off pretty hard if the opponent doesn’t summon monsters, so the synergy is there. There are also Level 1 Tuners, which I’ve already explained in previous articles why they’re so good in Kaijus.
As a random extra, Radian makes it easy to add in the card Allure of Darkness because he’s DARK and you can also run Malefic Stardust Dragon, who’s also DARK. Radian also adds another Level 7 to the deck, making Sacred Sword of the Seven Stars more viable.
Last idea, you can fusion with Radian using Dark Fusion to summon a really big Evil HERO Dark Gaia, which is classic. Is that idea any good, I’m not really sure, but I thought of it. You already run Grand Mole which can count as the Rock-type material if that makes the idea any better.
Capture Ideas:
Honestly not too big of a fan of Kaiju Capture Mission. I’ll certainly be running at least 1, and I’ll be testing it at 3 at first just to see if it’s actually really good, but upon reading it seems rather underwhelming. You can use it to get a lot more counters and to protect your Kaijus from Effect Veilers and the like, for example using Dogoran’s effect and the Veiler then you flip it face-down so its effect resolves. Also, it allows you to give the opponent Kaiju monsters and be less scared of the attacking you with them because you can simply flip them face-down, essentially taking the place of Scrap-Iron Scarecrow, which I was running before.
I thought of trying to summon Durendal to force the opponent to destroy it, but I don’t really know if that’s worth it.
Extra Idea:
I was thinking this deck might actually be the perfect deck to bring back Tragoedia with. You could run 3 Maxx “C” and 2 Tragoedia (because it’s still Semi-Limited for whatever reason). Tragoedia can steal opposing Kaijus and and XYZ with them, this also prevents OTKs and pairs well with Maxx “C” of course.
Rather quick article this week. Tell me if you have any thoughts about it or any Kaiju ideas of your own below!
