“Alive HERO”

Today is a far more direct article tan normal, I’ll just be responding to LegendaryChevralier’s comment on the recent Dragon Podcast:

Also can you give me some more infomation on that “alive hero” deck you were talking about? It seems really interesting and surprisingly similar to what I’ve been contemplating.

I’ll just be giving a little insight into the deck from my perspective as well as a pretty standard (as far as I know) decklist for the deck in Japan at the time being.

New Ideas: Lightray Sorcerer

Photobucket

As I’ve said on the podcast I’ve been trying to make a lot of ideas to effectively use the Lightray monsters. I haven’t really found any success in most of the ones requiring a lot of Light monsters in the grave so I’ve decided to move on to Lightray Sorcerer. If you don’t already know about ‘im he’s pretty much a the same as Chaos Sorcerer just a little different. Pretty much all you need to make it work is 3 Banish Light monsters. Luckily, it’s not like Dark Armed Dragon requiring an exact amount of monsters, so anything above 3 will also be fine. Today is my first look at some ideas with the card, I’ve got some more but I figured this article would be huge if I said all of them, so i’ll probably be cutting this one into 2 parts.

Portland Oregon Regionals Report

Hey, ‘sup it’s me Kyle, back from the Portland Regionals this Saturday. Quite the fun day I do have to say, it felt like I was on vacation for a whole week! Me, Matt, Justen and 4 others (Nate, Kegan, Tyler, Joe and Seth) all headed down to Seth’s house in Tacoma (about a 3 hour drive from Portland, where the Regionals where held) on Friday night and arrived around 12 or 1, I wasn’t totally sure when stayed up way to late then went to bed. The next morning we left at 7 and arrived at the location around 9:30, 30 minutes before the event started. Lucky for use we preregistered for the tournament and made it in, while a whole slew of people did not (even some people from our own card shop). As one of the judges told me, there where around 110 preregistered duelists out of the 152 maximum entry for the tourney, so not many walk-ins made it into the tournament.

Random Ideas: Fun HERO Ideas

Photobucket
Now that Call of the Haunted is at 3 I’ve been making up some random ideas for a deck that could possibly utilize 3 copies. (not counting Inzectors ’cause that deck isn’t that fun) One of the more fun ideas was a HERO build were I essentially try to make massive advantage using cards like Salvage, Fusion Recovery and Call of the Haunted in order to make quick and easy Fusion Summons and XYZ Summons. Bear in mind these are only theory and could as well flop in real life.

A Little Stun Science

Photobucket
Pretty much everyone is complaining about the new format and how Maxx “C” and Effect Veiler are completely necessary, but that’s not true. The only legitimate reason people feel they are necessary is because being looped by Wind-Ups will cost you the game if you’re not running them, but that once again is untrue. People for some reason are unwilling to build decks that can bounce back from situations such as this, and the most basic way to do this is to build a deck that can effectively maintain advantage with low hand counts as well as top-deck good cards consistently.
