Know the Purpose of Cards.

PhotobucketA thing I’ve been noticing lately is that sometimes people are using there cards wrong. There’s one major reasons why: they have an improper understanding of that cards purpose in their deck, and they’re playing their cards too eagerly because of this or just wrong in general.

Deck Profile: Ninjas

PhotobucketThere’s a lot of down time in Yugioh at the moment, no YCS’s no new things coming out until next year really. That to say I don’t have a whole lot to talk about this week. In lieu of that I bring you an update on a Ninja deck I’ve been working on. It’s not Chaos Dragon Ninjas, it’s not Dino Ninjas, it’s Ninja Ninjas! I’ll also take this opportunity to talk about some really cool cards that I’ve been testing in the deck in a similar fashion that I would if I where to give the individual card a “card review” spotlight.

Different Decks in the New Format

The new format has pretty much been defined, at least until Cosmo Blazer. (although I think it’ll barely make any impact) We’ve got Wind-Ups, Genex Atlantean Mermails (GAM), Agents, and Macro Rabbit running the show. To a lesser extent we’ve got some decks you’ll likely be seeing like Gadgets, Inzektors, Dark Worlds, Prophecy, Six Samurai and Chaos Dragons. Just for fun though I thought we could look into some possibilities of other decks that could be strong in the current meta and why.

Deck Profile: Machinas

PhotobucketHere’s a quick deck profile for a deck I’ve been using as of late. It’s not exactly a “fun deck” as much as it is a competitive deck. I built it based of some decks I saw in the OCG running pure Machina deck builds with the idea of being really good against Mermail Atlanteans.

A Look Into the Future

Photobucket‘Sup everybody? Thanks for reading these articles if you are reading them right now, because you’re awesome! Today I’m going to be doing something a little out of the norm, and what I mean by that is we’ll be taking a trip to the future today to look at a couple new cards that are going to come out in the next set: Cosmo Blazer. The main focus of my article will be on Gladiator Beasts. Anybody who doesn’t really enjoy spoilers, please discontinue reading and wait again until next week.

YCS Seattle/Tacoma Report

PRE YCS GARBAGE:

Got off work Friday night at 9 pm. After getting a ride to Tacoma, I stayed at Motel 6 with YCGPodcast crew (Matt Carter + Joe Mecham) and other people from our locals (Phoenix Games). After getting 2 hours of sleep and playtesting all night, I make my big YCS debut!

What ever happened to HEROs?

PhotobucketHEROs are pretty much off the map right now. The decks has considerably bad match-ups against a lot of high teir decks like Machinas, Dark Worlds Chaos Dragons, Agents and what I’d predict to be a poor match-up against Mermails. It has a fair match-up against Wind-ups and has always fared quite well against the Dinos. So the odds look kind of split in a bad way at this point. But of course, why I am even talking about them if they’re “bad”? That’s because for some reason it feels like people have put HEROs in this weird box where they’re only allowed to run 1 variant, when in actuality there’s a slough of other ways to play the deck that have been played in the past successfully as well as new variants that are being made right now. Some of these variants even give them a positive match-up against decks they’d otherwise lose to while also not loosing to there normally good match-ups.
