KMP: Plant Combos
As a sort of supplement to the podcast, since we didn’t actually get into many actual combos I figured I’d relay them in text form as well as some fun (but not necessarily the most viable) ideas to get your brains a-pumpin’. In this article I will be focusing on the plant aspect of Karakuri Machina Plants (KMP); some of the old tried and true plant combos and important combos to running plants with Karakuri. Note of warning, this is going to be long.
T-Shirt Design Ideas
As I made mention to on the Karakuri Cast, here’s some design ideas we had in mind for some T-shirts. Hope you like them!…
Locals Report 9/17/11
So I decided to use the vacation days I had accumulated over the last year before I lost them, and picked the last 2 Saturdays of the month (plus a Friday). That put me in the unique position of attending a local for the first time in at least 6 months (I without fail always work Saturday nights, the night my locals holds their tourny). By some freak chance Kyle gets the same Saturday off (he never gets Saturdays off either).
We go to locals about a hour before the tourney starts to do some trading and last minute adjustments to our decks I was originally going to run X-Sabers (having nothing else I was confident in) but once I get there I decide I’m just not feeling it and I go with a deck I spent a lot less time playtesting with. I then give a few choice synchros that I wouldnt need to Kyle for the Karakuri deck he was going to run. I end up running a deck I had much more confidence in due to the strong impression it made to me in the small amount of time I used it: Agent Fairies. After making a side deck and tweaking my extra deck and final build a bit, I’m ready to go into round 1.
Card Review: My Body as a Shield

So today is a rather short article about the card My Body as a Shield. It’s an old card I’m sure some veterans know good and well. After many a format of Solemn Warning and other sorts of life point payments is it finally time to bring back an old favorite?

The Tricks Of The Trade
Trading is a strange, yet core part of card games that allow players to get to the cards they want or need. A benefit of these card games is that you learn how to trade, barter, and understand the value of things based on concepts like demand and playability. So, how does one trade effectively and walk away feeling confident?
Card Review: Gishki Diviner

If you know me you know I like to look at decks in Japan, and this little card and a deck caught my attention. Gishki Diviner is a very peculiar draw engine that a very fun and viable deck can be built around. Matt mentioned him briefly on the Yugioh Terminology podcast as a card he really liked, and I’m sure you’ll at least find it very interesting too.

How To Shine In All This Chaos
As a duelist, I feel that the current state of the game is both the most favorable time to play in and the most overwhelming. We have plays that can end games by doing 8000 life points. We have Synchro Summoning and Xyz Summoning, two powerful game mechanics that seem very unique to our game and add to its overall flavor. We have a card pool of over 4,500 cards, with only a handful that are forbidden or restricted. We’re getting new archetypes and cards frequently, and old cards are becoming more and more playable. It is truly a great time to be a part of the game.
That being said, how does one manage all the activity going on? Between building competitive decks and dealing with a tough and adaptive meta, where does one find the time to pioneer into uncharted territory? There is a quote from one of my favorite movies that I believe best applies here: “Who has time? Who has time? But then if we do not ever take time, how can we ever have time?.”
