A Look Into the Future

Photobucket‘Sup everybody? Thanks for reading these articles if you are reading them right now, because you’re awesome! Today I’m going to be doing something a little out of the norm, and what I mean by that is we’ll be taking a trip to the future today to look at a couple new cards that are going to come out in the next set: Cosmo Blazer. The main focus of my article will be on Gladiator Beasts. Anybody who doesn’t really enjoy spoilers, please discontinue reading and wait again until next week.

What ever happened to HEROs?

PhotobucketHEROs are pretty much off the map right now. The decks has considerably bad match-ups against a lot of high teir decks like Machinas, Dark Worlds Chaos Dragons, Agents and what I’d predict to be a poor match-up against Mermails. It has a fair match-up against Wind-ups and has always fared quite well against the Dinos. So the odds look kind of split in a bad way at this point. But of course, why I am even talking about them if they’re “bad”? That’s because for some reason it feels like people have put HEROs in this weird box where they’re only allowed to run 1 variant, when in actuality there’s a slough of other ways to play the deck that have been played in the past successfully as well as new variants that are being made right now. Some of these variants even give them a positive match-up against decks they’d otherwise lose to while also not loosing to there normally good match-ups.

Card Review: Abyss Dweller

PhotobucketSome pre-YCS Seattle insight about a card that I think will be making a huge difference in the new meta: Abyss Dweller. It just came out as a TCG Exclusive in Abyss Rising with what seems like no fanfare, well let’s try to change that.

Card Review: Prohibition

PhotobucketIt’s weird gettin’ back into the swing of things. Haven’t made an article in about 3 weeks was it? That aside, it’s great to be back in America and Washington in specific where things are cold and smell of fresh pine. Today’s article is about one of the best side deck cards in the game right now: Prohibition.

Deck Review: Agents

PhotobucketUpon request I bring you a little of my insight on the Agent archetype in the current metagame. A fair warning, this article is quite long. It’s a compilation of my thoughts and current experience with the deck.

Card Review: Card Trooper

PhotobucketCard Trooper is a really good card in the current unease of the format. It provides quite the consistency boost to almost any deck that wants even minimal graveyard support. Card Trooper has been popping up in a lot of decks lately, floating around the same miniature engine of cards, and I just thought it’d be an interesting idea to bring up.

Deck Profile: Chaos Mash

Photobucket Pretty busy week, just started school and I’m gearing up to go to the Philippines for 2 weeks at the beginning of October (so I wont be on the podcast then) so I’ve been a little busy. I figured then I’d just do something simple and give you a deck profile of a deck that I’ve been having a lot of fun with recently, which is my Monster Mash deck. For those who don’t know, Monster Mash is a deck variant that’s all monster cards to facilitate the use of two specific cards: Gallis the Star Beast and Witch of the Black Rose. I don’t run Witch though, because I think that card sucks. I’ll explain that later. The variant I’m running is rather original, I’m not focusing on the Gallis OTK nearly at all and I run some obscure tech choices and based the deck around one of my favorite cards: Genex Ally Triforce.

Card Review: Cloudian – Poison Cloud

PhotobucketThis card is pretty random, but at the same time really awesome. Who doesn’t want to run a Cloudian monster legitimately? I’ve spoken briefly on him before but he’s got a couple specific tricks up his sleeve that may give him an edge. I thought it’d be a rather interesting venture to look a little further into this card, even though it may be a fairly short venture.

Inspecting Chronomalys

When I looked at the new Return of the Duelist pack, I was kind of looking for something that no one else noticed because I always think it’s funner to use the “bad” deck that no one cares about and do lots of cool things with it. Chronomalys are first off, really ugly, and secondly not so straight forward on their goals; so I figured everyone would pretty much steer clear of them and for the most part I was right. The stage was set for me to take a closer look.

Deck Profile: Traditional Dark Worlds…

Really quick article for this week, I kind of had to scrounge it up at the last minute. This last week was finals and the day after finals was PAX, which was three days and now it’s Monday as I type. So, I made a deck for the traditional tournament, which was fun but decidedly underwhelming, and I figured that before I demolish the deck forever I can show it off a little. Look at you own risk, the deck is stupid broken and no fun to play against.
